Eagles Lake & Peter’s Lake

Eagles Lake is a 2.1-acre mixed carp and catfish lake available for up to four anglers. It is the biggest-hitting water on The Famous Five complex, offering strong carp fishing alongside the real possibility of landing a very large catfish.
The lake has a central island accessed by bridge, with a large double swim positioned in front of it. This allows anglers to fish both left and right of the island, while bay areas at either end of the lake provide additional features and natural holding zones.
The lake bed is made up of clay, silt and exposed gravel. There are no significant weed beds, although old root systems and undercut margins provide plenty of interest without creating a heavily snaggy environment. Eagles is carefully managed, limed annually and receives at least five new carp each year. It was last netted in 2024, when carp below 20lb and catfish below 40lb were removed. The next full netting is scheduled for 2027.
Eagles Lake is booked together with Peter’s Lake, a separate 0.75-acre stock pond. Peter’s has carp, pike and koi carp, together with a double swim, and gives the group an extra water for lighter fishing, lure fishing or younger anglers. Any carp reaching 20lb or more are transferred into Eagles Lake or Orchard Lake as part of the wider stock management programme.
A pre-order bait service is available for Eagles Lake, with a range of boilies, hookbaits, pellets and prepared particle supplied through the complex. Available bait includes options from Woody’s Baits, Karper France and Sticky Baits.
All particle and pellets used on Eagles and Peter’s must be supplied by the venue. The prepared particle is made on-site using locally sourced maize and wheat, ensuring the bait is safe, correctly prepared and in line with the complex feeding policy.
Please arrange bait requirements at least 30 days before your arrival date. Tackle hire is available for anglers travelling light, and the on-site honesty-box shop sells bait essentials, end tackle, snacks and cold drinks.
A full food package is available for Eagles Lake and Peter’s Lake bookings. Breakfast and evening meals are freshly prepared and supplied throughout the week, allowing groups to make the most of their time on the bank.
The package is currently £165 per adult per week and £120 per week for under-14s. Lunch baguettes can be added to the order, while individual meals may be arranged with at least 24 hours’ notice. Dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for when communicated before the holiday.

- Every setup must include at least 18 inches of rig tubing
- Only fish-safe rigs may be used
- Bait boats are permitted
- A rowing boat may be available, but use is entirely at the angler’s own risk
- Carp over 40lb, all grass carp and catfish over 100lb must be weighed and photographed in the water
- Keep all swims, the chalet and Peter’s Lake area clean and tidy
- All rubbish, bottles and glass must be placed in the appropriate bins

- No braided mainline, except on marker and spod rods
- No leadcore or leader materials
- No curved, bent or long-shank hooks
- No fixed, bolt, tethered, Ronnie, spinner or 360-style rigs
- No plastic hookbaits
- No nuts used as loose feed; hookbait-only use is permitted
- No particle or pellets brought from outside the complex
- No unused bait to be thrown into the lake before leaving
- Rods must never be left unattended
