Barbret Lake is an intimate pool with waterside accommodation that sleeps 4 with some seriously big carp to over 60lbs. It is the ideal venue for combining carp fishing with a family holiday, due to the excellent facilities and activities which are on site. It is also ideal for taking a partner or just 2 or 3 anglers looking for a week’s carp fishing.

Due to the size of the carp, anglers must have experience in handling large carp.

Located in Brittany, it is easily accessible from the main ferry ports in France. It is 65 miles from St Malo, 145 miles from Caen and 350 from Calais.

For parties larger than 6 a newly renovated 2 bed caravan can be hired. Please enquire before booking if you wish to add this to your booking.

Barbret lake is 1.2 acres in size. You will have exclusive use of the lake and the stunning lakeside lodge for the duration of your holiday.

The lake contains approximately 85 carp, which are commons and mirrors to 61lbs. The average size after the netting in February 2022 was 32lbs. The current fish stock as of 2022 is: 30 x 20s, 20 x 30s, 20 x 40s, 7 x 50s and 3 x 60s. 3 Catfish 50 – 90lb, 5 x 25 – 30lb grass carp.

Depths range from 4tf to 9ft in the deepest areas. The key features of the lake that produce well are the gravel bars, margins and fishing to the small island.

There is no weed and all snags have been removed.

The lake depth varies from a few feet down to 20 feet in the deepest areas. Areas where the fish are regularly caught from include the margins and gravel bars.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday

All essential carp care and handling equipment is provided at no extra cost, including chairs, cradles, weigh slings, unhooking mats, landing nets, and barrows.

For those who need a full fishing setup, the following hire options are available:

  • A 2-rod package complete with rod pod, alarms, and receiver is available for £80 per person, per week.
  • A 3-rod package including rod pod, alarms, and receiver can be hired for £100 per person, per week.

A range of premium-quality bait can be pre-ordered ahead of your stay:

  • Freezer-fresh boilies (18–20mm): £12.00 per kg
  • House pellets (11mm): £4.00 per kg
  • House particle mix: £4.00 per kg
  • Flavoured glugs (selection): £8.00
  • Pop-ups: £8.00
  • Hard hook baits: £8.00
  • Wafters: £8.00

Choose from a variety of catering options to suit your stay:

  • Full package (all meals included): £215.00 per person, per week
  • Half board: £190.00 per person, per week
  • Breakfast-only package: £85.00 per person, per week

Additional meal options:

  • Full English breakfast (includes tea/coffee and toast): £13.00

Welcome Pack

A convenient starter pack is available for £40.00, including:
washing-up liquid, bread, butter, milk, tea bags, coffee, sugar, bottled water, red and white wine, and a case of French beers

Fishery Rules

To protect the fish, the lakes, and everyone’s experience, the following rules must be followed at all times:

  • No keepnets.

  • Fishery-provided carp cradles must be used at all times.

  • Barbless or micro-barbed hooks only.

  • No braided main line.

  • No leadcore leaders of any kind.

  • OMC Twig rigs are not permitted.

  • No fixed leads.

  • No Korda Goo.

  • No sacks to be used at any time without prior permission.

  • Maximum of three rods per person.

  • No fish are to be introduced to or removed from the lakes.

  • Only fishery-provided landing nets, weigh slings, and carp cradles may be used.

  • No nuts are to be brought onto the fishery. Freezer baits and boilies only.

  • Main line must be a minimum of 15lb when fishing for carp.

  • The person who makes the booking is responsible for their party and any damage caused.

  • Management accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

  • Cutting trees or foliage is strictly forbidden.

  • No fires are permitted. A BBQ is provided for your use.

  • Please use the toilet facilities provided. All litter must be placed in the bins.

  • Swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited.

  • No refunds will be given for early departures.

  • All swims must be left clean and tidy.
