Etang du St Brice is a 7 acre lake located close to the historic fortified town of Fougères in Brittany. It is a drive and survive lake that can be fished by a maximum of 4 anglers. The ferry port of St Malo is a 50 minute drive and Caen is around 90 minutes away
Acquired by the current owners in 2016, a lot of work has gone into restoring the lake which opened for the first time in 2021.
New carp were added to the lake in January 2019, November 2019 and January 2020. The carp have been hand picked and include a good number of heavily plated mirrors and a few fully scaled mirrors as well as some beautiful deep bodied commons.
As of 2023 the lakes largest resident is 50lbs plus, there are several carp over 40lbs and a good head of 30s.
There are 6 swims around the lake, 3 of which are double swims with plenty of room for 2 large bivvies. Etang du St Brice is not a runs water but it is not a hard water either. Depths range from 2 to 8 feet and there’s lot of features including bays, gullies and even large granite boulders. Anglers that give some thought on where to fish and spend time identifying features will do well.

Etang du St Brice is 2km from the village of St Brice en Cogles which has fantastic facilities and shops. There are bars, restaurants, takeaway shops as well as a large super market.

Important Rule
No particles such as nuts, beans, peas, hemp, or maggots are allowed.
The only exception is our on-site parti mix, to ensure quality and control of bait usage.
The food is available from £200 euros per week per person Saturday – Saturday. This includes a breakfast baguette (sausage/egg) and organic home cook evening meal with dessert, delivered to your swim.
- Do not swim or wade in the lake.
- Fish must not be retained for longer than 10 minutes.
- No braided mainline.
- No plastic baits.
- Minimum line strength: 15lb.
- Micro barbed hooks only.
- No “mugga” style hooks.
- Maximum of 3 rods per angler.
- Fish-safe rigs only – no fixed leads.
- Do not pull for a break if a fish is snagged; call us for assistance.
- If a fish becomes tethered, notify the lake owner immediately.
- Nuts, beans, and peas are prohibited.
- No maggots.
- Only parti mix supplied by the lake owner is permitted.
- Nets, slings, and unhooking mats are provided – please do not use your own.
- Medi Carp kits are also provided.
- Where possible, unhook fish before placing them in the sling.
- No fires.
- No portable generators.
- No dogs allowed.
- Keep swims clean and tidy; dispose of all litter in the bins provided (general waste, recycling, and glass).
- Be respectful of other anglers.
- Respect the natural surroundings – this is a protected natural reserve.
- No drugs.
- Alcohol in moderation only.
- Use the toilets provided for all toilet needs.
- Vehicles may be used to drop off equipment only; please park at the entrance for the duration of your stay.
- Arrival no earlier than 11:30am on Saturday; departure by 9:00am.
