Etang du St Brice: 25-04-2026 to 02-05-2026

Fishing Trip Report – Etang Du St Brice, Brittany, France

After booking this trip a full nine months in advance, expectations were naturally high—and it’s fair to say they were more than met upon arrival at Etang Du St Brice.
From the outset, the venue made a great impression. The site was extremely well maintained-clean, tidy, and clearly well organised. The new owners, Jay and Patricia (only three months into running the fishery), were fantastic hosts throughout the week. Nothing was too much trouble for them; they were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making sure guests had a good experience.
On arrival, Jay gave us a full orientation of the site, including a walkthrough of the caravan setup and the shower/toilet facilities. Everything was straightforward and well explained. The facilities themselves were excellent-electric hook-up from an onsite caravan, and a spacious, very clean shower block that had everything we needed for the duration of the stay.
We set up on pegs 1 and 3 (a double peg), both of which were well kept and offered plenty of space for a comfortable session. The fishing got off to a flying start-we were into fish within the first hour of casting out.
The lake itself was in pristine condition. The fish were clearly very well looked after-strong, healthy, and full of fight. Even the smaller doubles gave a great account of themselves.
While we didn’t quite reach the upper weights of some of the lake’s bigger residents, we still had a very successful week overall. Across the session, we landed a total of 66 fish, with 21 of those falling into the mid-to-high 20lb bracket – so certainly nothing to complain about.
Weather-wise, we were lucky, with average temperatures around 26°C, which was a welcome change from the weather in the U.K. the week before.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable week at a fantastic venue. Great fishing, excellent facilities, and top-notch hosts. We’ll definitely be coming back.
